Children’s Services

The Philosophy of the Library’s Service to Children

The Children’s Department strives to serve the whole child, including recreational, informational, and cultural book needs. Parents, teachers, organizations, church youth workers, authors and artists in the children’s field may all find the Children’s collection to be useful and inspirational.

The Children’s Department serves children from infancy through 6th or 7th grade. Children with learning disabilities and children who are advanced readers are also served here. Materials are selected by the Children’s Librarian through regular examination of various professional reviewing publications.

The Library has ongoing programs designed for children, as well as many special events. Parents are welcome to attend events with their children for fun and enjoyment that fosters a love of reading.
